Concerning Mods 5/24/2009

As far as I am aware, all moderators have gone inactive in moderating.

No blame - I just need to know! I can't go through everything myself

Contest: As far as I'm aware, only one person entered the sports/games contest...I feel that it should be delayed until a time at which the characters are happier, within the story - until then, forcing them into a fun situation might just not work out! I've heard and figured that several of you have been running into this problem, even if you haven't been able to identify it quite so.

the DISNEY, MUSIC VIDEO and CARAMELLDANSEN contests are still going, though! Disney crossover 5/30, MUSIC VIDEO 6/30, and animate an AtA Caramelldansen 7/30! Keep the entries comin' in! We'll hopefully get more help for club updates soon, then we'll let you know what all contestants and prizes we have. ^_^



SENTEI CONTEST COMES TO A CLOSE! 4/17/2009

Aaaaand the winner is.....

First Place

AEROS the Sentei [link] by ~AngelicDragonElf!

This late-entry nearly wasn't considered for judging, but we looked over it for fun - and quickly found him to our liking! This character's unique blend of accuracy and style are what brought him to the top. Aeros is a Sentei who could legitimately live in Diem with Marth, Roy, Manasa, etc, but the author didn't restrict him to being just like the Senteis we've seen! Aeros was raised by his parents in rural woods away from Sentei persecution, but also away from Sentei traditions. As a result, when his parents died he was left without an idea of how other Senteis are treated, but also without knowing how to teleport, and very ill skill in disguising. Though he doesn't fight with Sentei techniques, Aeros is a skilled fighter!

Great blend of what we know of Sentei from Among the Ashes, with a unique character history to boot! AEROS is also the correct accuracy and style to be eligible for World of Diem Role Play! ( [link] )

Second Place Tie
Keida by ~equusferus and Asima by ~Savvy23! Each of these characters also took a side of Sentei life unexplored in AtA, and built a character with it! The balance of accuracy and style in the two of these was just so hard to choose between...where one

[link] Asima once belonged to a nearly exclusively Sentei crime group called the Itzali (a group invented by Savvy, but canonized by Chrissy herself once Savvy brought it up!) who constantly travels Diem on their operations (stealing, raiding, and other). Asima was the leader's main girl getting fed up with him when she came upon a victim and was ordered to read her thoughts for info before killing her - and after that, Asima couldn't do it. She left the group and is now in hiding as a regular human in the capital of Aritia, still trying to figure out how to blend in while she keeps an eye on the victim she freed.

[link] Keida is the young healer (lower case "h": like Zelda, uses knowledge of herbs and medicine, not Healing power, as Elice and Healers in Aritia do) in a small Saccaean Sentei settlement who took over as leading healer when her predecessor unexpectedly died in a raid.

All three of these entries are eligible for RP!

Elroy, Senteis, Football! 4/11/2009

2. choose a song and draw a picture to represent them as a couple, or
3. draw Roy as a dragon! (note: as Chrissy specified, he's orange)

Now, I'm sure you've been wondering about the SENTEI contest?

Problem is, we can't decide between two awesome submissions D8~
We're judging based on style and accuracy, and they are very different but seem to be equally matched in their areas of strength! Chrissy and I are still in discussions for this.

But the next contest is the SPORTS, GAMES AND AMUSEMENT contest! I hope you guys have fun with this one cause it's an AWESOME premise. Wanna take Roy on a roller coaster? GIGANTIC ANNOUNCEMENT MUSH POT OF JOY!

First of all: Marnasa contest closed, and popular voting will open shortly on the POLL on *CallistoHime's page! Look for it tomorrow or the next few days!

Date and time set for RP Orientation! Again, this is: a.) if you have a character approved but have yet to start RPing; b.) if you joined or know you want to but don't have anything firm in mind for your character; c.) if you're interested in joining or at least seeing what it's like! ALL for you!

Once again, we're holding this because SOON in Anria, Aritia's capital, a nationwide TOURNAMENT/FESTIVAL will be held! This is a perfect place for characters from all over Aritia, or even just in Anria (the most active location in the RP), to be introduced and mingle. Characters of ALL AGES and stations are invited to attend!

But since RP is an extension of Among the Ashes...not just any character or person can barge in. We specifically need characters that are basically "extras" in "the movie" of AtA, but who still lead lives of their own that you would enjoy playing out within the World of Diem.

At that time, we will have a quiz available which will qualify you to enter as a Sentei character.

CLUB IDEAS!

Thoughts that have been bouncing around: some kind of reading club portion! Especially with events rolling on in AtA, it's always worth rereading and reviewing the story thus far. Each chapter contains information and development that contributes to AtA's future, and which we can now view with more insight than at the time of original release.

The idea is for us all to read one chapter of AtA, from the beginning, biweekly, then meet in the Club chatroom for discussion. Likee this idea?

So a long time ago I designed a black sweatshirt called "The Angst Hoodie," featuring Chrissy's artwork with the words "This is my angst hoodie" on a black sweatshirt. If enough people agree to buy it and pre-pay, we can afford to order some...but if not, it's no-go. =\ The more people who sign up, the cheaper the cost, so let me know your interest! And by interest I don't mean, "oo that'd be cool," I mean "I'd be willing to dish out $20-$30 for a sweatshirt with official AtA art."

If enough interest is expressed, I will also open up availability for the Emorth hoodie, Emorth t-shirt, and shipping chibi t-shirts, which are already designed.

CONTEST DECISIONS!

The mods and I have discussed, and this is the plan we've thought of for the next upcoming contests:

Marnasa contest for Valentines day (2/15)
Design-A-Sentei for March (3/15)
Sports/games for April (4/15).

And since Exams are always mid-may, the Music Vid can be June 1st to give people enough time.

This leaves up in the air the "animate a caramelldansen" AND the "Disney crossover" contests! So what do YOU guys, the members/fans, think? Which contest would you rather see, and when?

It's time to announce.........

THE MANASA CONTEST!

We've noted that fans seem to have been drawing a LOT of Manasa art, so we thought, we not milk it for all we can get? This was actually inspired by ~Rhinjinfan, in her suggestion box ([link]) comment.

The premise is this: draw or illustrate something to do with Manasa. It can be ANYTHING - Manasa in modern day, Manasa in whatever ship people want, Manasa in the past, Manasa in the future, Manasa having fun or being sad, a simple portrait of Manasa, an elaborate scene, a comic, anything! And it doesn't have to be limited to canon facts. ^_^ So long as it's art, and it's Manasa, that's all we need!

The catch is that it MUST be visual art. You may write a one shot scene to accompany, if it will fit in the artist's comments, but we will be judging according to the visual art. Other than that, so long as it's Manasa, and something tasteful (please keep it appropriate), anything goes!

The only other limitations are that you must be a club member to enter, and that it must be something new. It has to have been made FOR the the contest, not a Manasa picture you happened to already have. But seriously, have fun with it! It's a great oportunity to draw and get to know our Mana-dear. =3

The contest deadline is SEPTEMBER 30. We hope to see all your entries!

RULE REMINDER (7/12/08)
While we understand the mistake, we would like to request that club members especially heed the rule to NOT add favorites from the club copy deviations. The artists comments always have a link to the original deviation. Today especially, we had a flood of misplaced favorites, and most of them from Club members. While we alerted them, we would also like to send out the reminder to mind your favorites - and if you fave incorrectly and notice it yourself, send us a note letting us know that you've fixed it.

It may not seem like news, since they've been so helpful and involved so far, but ~Kalilea-Eucharista and *sirianna89 have been officially been dubbed Club Moderators! Give these ladies a round of applause, because this means that in addition to helping with the chat and forums, they'll be doing things like answering comments, updating deviations, news and club lists, etc.

Remember also the Deviant ID contest - we may extend the deadline, if anyone expresses such a desire!

TCE Revamp (5/29/08)

Chrissy has given this club (nearly) exclusive permission to post (as updated) each chapter of the Time Cannot Erase Revamp! And after that, also, the AtA chapters as they are minorly edited/to catch up, and AtA as well.

Q&A Submissions (5/26/2008)

As those of you who attended last Wednesday's successful Q&A session may know, sometimes getting the questions asked and in order was a bit...chaotic.

So, *sirianna89 has set up a forum thread at which you can submit your questions! Chrissy and Lauren will from there pick and choose what questions to answer. Afterwards, the transcript of the Q&A will be posted online at the forum, too. Here is the link: [link]

This is also helpful for those who cannot make it to the live chat, because their questions can be answered and read even so!

Also, discussion is underway about setting up a chat that is a good time for international (non-US) readers. Comment with the times that might be best for you (in US Central time, please!)
